日本古来の製法である総火造りで握り鋏（にぎりばさみ）をつくれる職人 寺_研志氏。世界で数人しかいない希少な職人。寺_刃物の握り鋏は、一本の糸から大判生地の断裁まで多くの仕事をこなせる優れもの。通常の金属を磨き上げた光沢を出す仕上げではなく、黒仕上げという特別な仕上げでつくられています。この特別な仕上げは、多少錆に強いというメリットがありますが、通常の金属とは異なる重厚感を演出し、芸術作品のようなかっこよさが魅力です。

【寺_刃物の「総火造り」（そうひづくり）とは？】
型を使わずに熱した鉄や鋼を叩き、厚みや形などの全てを手作業で作り上げる伝統的な製法のこと。
日本で作られるほとんどの握り鋏は、機械でつくられた、鉄に鋼（ハガネ）が付いている状態の「複合鋼材」というものを仕入れ、それらを加工しながら製造されます。寺_刃物では先記の複合材を購入せず、鉄と鋼を約1,000度の炎で熱し、金槌で叩き接合します。
同時に形も金槌一本で整えていきます。このように、鉄と鋼の接合作業から行う製造方法を「総火造り」と呼びます。鉄と鋼の接合は極めて難しい技術であり、失敗を多く生む非効率な製造方法ですが、バネの強さや握りの加減など、使い心地や形状など、細かなこだわりをもって製造することができます。

It is made with a special black finish, rather than the usual polished metal finish that gives it a glossy shine. This special finish has the advantage of being somewhat resistant to rust, but it also creates a sense of solidity that is different from ordinary metal, giving it a cool look that makes it look like a work of art.


【　What is Soubidukuri?　】
A traditional manufacturing method in which heated iron or steel is pounded without using a mold, and the thickness and shape are all created by hand.
Most grip scissors made in Japan are manufactured by purchasing machine-made composite steel materials, which are made of iron with steel attached to them, and processing them. At Terasaki Knife, instead of purchasing the composite materials mentioned above, we heat the iron and steel over a flame of about 1,000 degrees and then join them together by hitting them with a hammer.
At the same time, the shape is adjusted using a hammer. This manufacturing method, which starts with the joining of iron and steel, is called ``Soubidukuri.'' Joining iron and steel is an extremely difficult technology and an inefficient manufacturing method that often results in failures, but it is possible to manufacture products with great attention to detail, such as the strength of the springs, the degree of grip, the comfort of use, and the shape.
