An experimental product crafted stitch by stitch with the utmost dedication by Takashi Koide of "Mariya," a long-established workshop of Kanazawa's traditional craft, Kaga Temari.
Traditionally, Kaga Temari are crafts where vibrantly colored threads intersect to draw complex and gorgeous geometric patterns. However, "#000 BLACK KOGEI" has stripped away all "color" from this tradition. What remains after peeling off the veil of color is a cruelly pure challenge for the artisan, where not the slightest hesitation or distortion is forgiven.
■ Pure "Black" that Erases Visual Noise
The sphere, intentionally constructed entirely of black thread (#000), reduces surrounding noise to silence, vividly bringing out only the breath of the material and the unerring skill of the craftsman. The pattern emerges quietly, yet with firm intent, solely through the contrast of luster created by the direction of the taut threads and slight differences in their angles.
■ "Uzumaki" Inviting Deep Immersion and Overwhelming Presence
Applied to this piece is a dynamic, endlessly continuing "Uzumaki" (spiral) pattern. The flowing lines drawn in a single black hue create an infinite gradient of light and shadow, sharpening the senses of those who hold it and drawing them into deep immersion.
Furthermore, its 14cm diameter—significantly larger than our existing models (7cm and 8.5cm)—radiates an overwhelming presence and profound weight that transcends mere tabletop decoration. It defines the center of a space, acting as a "device" to create a comfortable "margin" within a busy daily life, and orchestrates a highly refined atmosphere.

100年以上続く祝儀袋店であり、水引細工発祥の老舗である津田水引折型があえて水引ベースではない「お札を贈るラッピング」（祝儀袋）を再開発してみました。
大切な贈答物を包む水引文化は、日本の伝統的ラッピングであり、贈る人の気持ちを相手に伝えるコミュニケーションツール。また、永い年月をかけて工夫された色々なセキュリティー機能等が備えられています。しかし、水引によるその機能一部は、現代のほとんどの場面において不要になっているのも事実。贈り主の気持ちを伝えるツールという本質は残しつつ、現代において不要な機能を削ぎ落とし「お札を贈るラッピング」を０ベースで再開発しました。
These modern and new gift envelopes are made by Tsuda Mizuhiki Orikata, a gift envelope maker with over 100 years of history. In addition to money, they can also be used to store gift certificates and gift cards.
The fabric has a minimalist Scandinavian design feel and is made from oil pulp paper. It has a high-quality, leather-like texture and is durable enough to be used for wallets and tote bags.
The Mizuhiki ornaments represent ears of rice. In Japan, ears of rice have long been considered auspicious motifs, representing "abundance," "good fortune," and "one grain of rice for a thousand grains." As they particularly represent harvest, this Mizuhiki decoration embodies the wish for a "fruitful life."
The method of putting money in and taking it out is much easier than with a regular gift envelope. Open the gift envelope into a cross shape, place the money in the center, and fold it from bottom to top, left to right to enclose it. Choose a sealing sticker (nine types) appropriate for the event and attach it to the left side as a sealing sticker. If necessary, write the sender's name under "from" on the sealing sticker. *Please be sure to write this in cases where gifts will be collected from many people, such as a wedding reception.

Mizuhiki is a traditional Japanese gift-wrapping method that involves folding, knotting and calligraphy. Gifts are wrapped in white Japanese paper, which is tied with awaji-musubi knots. The reason for the gift and the name of the gift-giver are written in calligraphy. Mizuhiki symbolizes a wish to expel evil spirits and create happy relationships. Also, it symbolizes warm, heartfelt thoughts towards the receiver of the gift; these thoughts are represented by the beautiful wrapping rather than by words. It is a type of “communication culture” that conveys a spirit of modesty.
【Kaga Mizuhiki ／ Tsuda Mizuhiki Orikata】
About a century ago, Sokichi Tsuda (first-generation master of Kaga Mizuhiki) developed three-dimensional wrapping and knotting techniques, elevating the craft to an art. His distinctive techniques and the gracefulness of his works have been highly praised, and he has received many honors, including presentation of his work to the imperial court. During the time of the second-generation Ume Tsuda, mizuhiki was designated as a rare traditional craft of Kanazawa. Kaga Mizuhiki techniques have been handed down to the fifth generation while preserving the essence of the craft, and at the same time further developing it.

【山中塗とは】
山中塗とは、石川県加賀市の山中温泉地区で作られる漆器。山中塗が生まれたのは、およそ400年前の安土桃山時代。挽物の器を作って生活していた木地師が山中温泉上流の真砂に定住し、木地を挽いたことが始まりだといわれています。当初は温泉客への土産物として販売していましたが、江戸時代に入り、漆塗りや蒔絵の技術を会津や京都、金沢から取り入れて発展。加飾挽きや朱溜塗などさまざまな技法が開発されました。
A new plate has been released that highlights the techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware, a traditional craft from Ishikawa Prefecture.
This wooden plate with lacquer finish is inspired by flowers and plants in nature, and has a petal motif.
Its elegant form is reminiscent of a single flower.
The non-circular design gives the table a natural, organic feel.
A craftsman hand-carves the edges of each plate, making it easy to hook your fingers around the frills and hold it lightly.
Also, this product is not strictly black, but a deep blue-green color.
The wooden base is painted a deep blue-green (sesame color) and then lacquered.
As the lacquer color ages, it becomes more transparent, allowing the deep green color of the base to emerge, making the color more vibrant over the years.
As the years go by, lacquer becomes more transparent and hardens, increasing in strength.
This discoloration is not deterioration but evolution. Please enjoy the changes in the appearance of the plate as you use it.
【Features of Yamanaka Lacquerware】
Yamanaka -Nuri, also known as Yamanaka lacquerware, is produced in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Yamanaka is one of the three major lacquerware production areas in the prefecture, along with Wajima for lacquering and Kanazawa for makie. Yamanaka has long been home to a large number of Kijiji-shi (woodworkers)* and boasts the highest production of hikimono (ground woodwork)* in the country.
A major characteristic of Yamanaka lacquerware, which makes use of grain patterns and expresses natural textures, is the tatekidori technique, in which the bowl is shaped in the direction in which the wood grows. This produces robust lacquerware that is resistant to distortion due to drying, and enables elaborate finishing not only of bowls but also of thinly ground pieces and lids. Furthermore, the decorative grinding*, which produces various patterns on the wood, such as sen-suji and ara-suji, gives birth to Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware with its unique attention to detail.

Master craftsman's skill in applying and hardening the sticky lacquer evenly.
Lacquer changes with the weather, temperature and humidity. Sometimes, the lacquer shrinks and has to be reapplied the day after the work is completed. Mr Shimizu laughs: "The lacquer tells me not to get carried away.
After graduating from high school, he spent five years learning basic techniques at the Wajima Lacquer Art Technical Training Institute and apprenticed himself to his father, a lacquer craftsman. What puzzled him when he entered the world of craftsmanship was the volume and speed required. Unlike his time at the training institute, where he was absorbed in creating works of art, he was taught that "the work of a craftsman is to deliver all 100 vessels after 100 are painted". Every time he made a mistake, he would look back and wonder whether the brush length was not suitable for the lacquer or whether the temperature and humidity were not suitable. He became absorbed in the moment when his ingenuity appeared on a vessel.
Of the 10 lacquer painters in Yamanaka, Mr Shimizu is the only one who does 'variegated lacquering'. He researches old methods and incorporates them into his own techniques, such as 'Murakumo' lacquering, in which soot from Japanese candles is applied to the lacquer before it hardens, and 'Hibi' lacquering, in which egg white is applied to create natural cracks on the lacquered surface.
You tame nature and make everything look the same. That's the most interesting thing about being a painter.
